Conversation Facilitation
I compare my role of conversation facilitator to that of the conductor of a symphony. Unlike a conductor, I do not take centre stage, but rather a seat amongst the rest of the orchestra. Like the conductor, I am aware that each of the participants have a purpose and need to be heard in order for the group to create beautiful 'music' together.
The conversation belongs to you; content is created by the participants. I work with my clients to gain clarity on the intention and desired outcomes of the conversation. The setup that I find works best is around a conference table or tables in a U-Shape. This allows for eye contact with all participants and a certain synergy.
I am often asked to facilitate conversations so that team leaders or sponsors can fully participate and not take on any of the added responsibility or stress of keeping the group on task or adding bias to what is being said.
Common conversations -
- Strategy and Planning
- Brainstorming
- Goal Setting
- Repairing/opening lines of communication between individuals or groups
- Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessments and team/individual debrief conversations
Let's discuss how I can support your next conversation.
